Sauna Bench Designs: Curves, Levels and Backrests

Pull up a bench. These photographs show the differences you feel with your back, legs, and feet: a curved lounge, a straight upper bench, or a seat that follows the room.

Do all curved sauna benches have the same shape?

No. The Baia lounge curves upward to support a reclined position. The E7G benches and backrests follow the curved barrel wall. The Hele Single bench curves around the room in plan. Each can be called curved, but each supports a different way of sitting or lying down.

What is the difference between a sauna lounge and a flat bench?

A lounge shapes the seat and back into a reclined position. A flat bench gives you a level surface to sit or lie on. The Baia shows both in the same room: a sculpted lounge on one side and a flatter bench opposite it. That is a useful comparison if you want to see the difference without changing sauna models.

How do upper and lower sauna benches fit together?

In the photographed X2, the lower bench sits forward of the upper bench and a smaller step leads up from the entry. In the Libera Glass, the broad lower tier sits below the long upper bench. Looking from the door makes that overlap clear; a view aimed only at the upper seat can hide much of the lower level.

What different sauna backrests can I see in the tours?

The Libera Glass has a straight horizontal backrest above the upper bench. The Baia has a lounge that curves into its back support. The E7G backrest follows the barrel wall. Compare the point where your shoulders would rest, as well as the appearance of the woodwork.

What is the difference between open benches and bench skirts?

An open bench leaves its support structure visible underneath. A bench skirt closes or screens the front of the space below the seat. The Thermory Square #40 photos show open legs and supports. The SaunaLife X7 uses horizontal slats across the bench front, giving the seating a more enclosed appearance.

Why does bench depth look different from one photo to another?

A close camera makes the near edge of a bench look larger, especially in a wide-angle view. Compare the Nativa doorway photo with a seated viewpoint before judging the shape. The photographs explain how the bench and floor relate; the exact size drawing supplies the depth measurement. A photograph alone is not a measuring tool.

What should I look at besides length when choosing a sauna bench to lie on?

Look at the bench shape, the backrest and what occupies either end. The Baia holds you in a shaped lounge. The Hele Single follows a curve around the room. The Libera offers a straight upper bench. Those differences remain even when two benches have similar lengths, so compare the actual lying-down views alongside the model dimensions.
